Dimitra (Demy) Delfi has a passion for being outdoors and telling inspiring stories. Growing up in several places in Greece, by the age of 15 she was photographing nature and wildlife in their natural habitat, emphasizing in macro photography. Being behind a camera has always been creative, giving her the chance to see the world from a different point of view.
After graduating from the Audio & visual arts department of the Ionian University with an integrated master's degree in audio & visual arts, Dimitra was dedicated to documentary filmmaking.
Her projects focus on nature and humans, telling stories that emerge from the lives of everyday people. Through documentaries, those stories can be shared with others to deeply understand humans and the role they play in relation to the environment.
The choice of the ocean as a subject and inspiration for many of her projects is due to her early engagement with water. Exploring the seabed while freediving and having the images of Jacques-Yves Cousteau's documentaries in her mind, it was a matter of time before she took up underwater cinematography and photography. Her adaptability and creativity are a combination that allows her the confidence to shoot in the water, in both hot and cold temperatures.
