Welcome to Kea (aka Tzia), a lesser-known Greek island in the Cyclades.
This travel video documents a few of the most recognisable spots of the island.
Featured Locations:
• Agios Nikolaos Lighthouse - one of the oldest lighthouses in Greece. This was the first operational lighthouse in the Cyclades and the second in all of Greece. Coordinates: 37°40’2.07″N 24°18’49.61″E
• Strait of Lambros Katsonis - Named after the Greek naval hero, whose ship is believed to have passed through this strait while escaping from the Turks, who controlled the port.
• Korissia - The island’s welcoming port town, with charming white-washed houses and traditional harbor scenes.
• Ioulida - The capital of Kea. Unlike most Cycladic islands, it is built amphitheatrically on a hilltop, featuring red-tiled houses, arched arcades and a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets accessible only on foot (vehicles are not permitted).
• The Medieval Castle - A Venetian castle that was built in 1210 with building material from the temples of the ancient acropolis.
• Panagia Kastriani Monastery - Located on the northern side of the island, it is built on a hilltop above the sea.
